Now you've decided which i30 model is right for you, it's now time to decide which engine is best for your needs. There are three engines to choose from: 1.0 T-GDi; 1.4 T-GDi and 1.6 CRDi.
The 1.0 T-GDi petrol engine is a downsized turbocharged engine which kicks out a healthy 120bhp and 171.1 Nm at 1,500 - 4,000 rpm. This lively peach of an engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox so motorway journeys are effortlessly smooth. It also features Intelligent Stop & Go (ISG) which cuts out the engine when stationary and restarts soon as the accelerator is pressed, thus improving efficiency.
For those who'd like a little more power from their engine then the 1.4 T-GDi petrol engine is the one for you. Being a slightly larger engine it offers a very responsive drive. The newly developed 1.4 T-GDi engine produces 140bhp and 242 Nm torque at 1,500 rpm. This engine is available with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Like the 1.0 T-GDi, the 1.4 T-GDi also features Intelligent Stop & Go (ISG).
The diesel engine on offer in the new generation i30 is a turbocharged 1.6 CRDi which produces 110bhp. It is available with either a 6-speed manful gearbox or 7 speed DCT automatic. This 1.6 CRDi engine is extremely with the manual transmission benefiting from CO2 emissions of just 99g/km. Like the petrol engines, this 1.6 CRDi diesel also boasts Intelligent Stop & Go (ISG) which increased efficiency even further.
