2019 Toyota RAV4

The fifth-generation model

On the 28th March, Toyota revealed the all-new, fifth-generation Toyota RAV4 at the New York International Auto Show. While it still remains true to its heritage the new RAV4 features advanced powertrain technology, a dynamic performance, intelligent safety provisions and all-round quality.

  • To be introduced in the UK during the first quarter of 2019
  • First RAV4 to be built on a Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform
  • Two new powertrains: 2.5-litre hybrid and 2.0-litre petrol
  • Improved driving dynamics
  • A new stand-out design and style

The design of the world's best selling Toyota SUV creates a 'go anywhere' sense of adventure, with a target customer base of young families who enjoy life in and out of the town. The new RAV4 is taller and wider than the fourth-generation model. Measuring 4,600m long, 30mm has been added to the wheelbase allowing more space and comfort within the cabin. While reductions have been made in the front and rear overhang.

Two new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) powertrains have been introduced to the new RAV4 model:

  • 2.5-litre hybrid
  • new 2.0-litre petrol

These are claimed to be more powerful and efficient than the current model. Toyota have said that the switch to the TNGA platform reduces the RAV4's centre of gravity and gives a better weight distribution. We are still waiting for the confirmed UK specification.
