New Generation Toyota Auris

With a choice of hybrid engines

The new generation Toyota Auris has broken cover at the recent Geneva Motorshow in Switzerland and has been turning heads thanks to its superb exterior styling which really makes the new Auris stand out from its competitors. The attractive styling is made possible thanks to Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) which is brand new platform, already utilised by the Prius and C-HR. This new platform lets the new Auris sit closer to the ground, providing a more dynamic profile and more attractive styling. The new TNGA platform also provides the new Auris with more interior space thanks to a 40mm increase in length.

The new Auris will debut a brand new 2.0-litre full hybrid electric system in its engine line-up which marks the start of Toyota’s dual hybrid strategy. This new powertrain comes as a result of in depth research carried out by Toyota. They listened to their millions of existing hybrid customers and were keen to learn from them how to further improve its technology and make hybrid more appealing to a wider audience.

The new 2.0-litre hybrid engine provides more power and increased dynamic driving characteristics. The engine line-up will consist of a conventional 1.2-litre 114bhp petrol turbo unit, the existing 1.8-litre 120bhp hybrid engine or the brand new 2.0-litre 177bhp hybrid engine. Both hybrid engines will continue to offer excellent fuel economy, low CO2 emissions and a responsive driving experience.

Whilst designing the new generation Auris, Toyota’s aim was to create the most bold and dynamic hatchback on the market. The new TNGA platform makes the new Auris longer and lower than the current model which gives the new Auris a striking front design. The new all-LED headlight units also add to the appealing front design of the Auris. Height has been reduced by 25mm and length increased by 40mm which helps provide an overall sleeker shape. Move to the rear of the car and you’ll notice a more rounded shape thanks to a 14-degree increase in the rake of the rear screen. All new Auris models will also come with a roof spoiler as standard. Customers will also have the option of choosing a bi-tone colour scheme where the body colour combines with a black finish to the roof and pillars.
