Burrows Mazda Sheffield will sponsor Cycling Sheffield this year as part of a long-standing relationship with the aspiring riders club. The Yorkshire-based dealership has supported the elite-level racing team, which is one of the UK’s most successful cycling clubs, for seven consecutive years.
Burrows Mazda Sheffield will provide a black Mazda6 Tourer support car for the team, which is used during the training season and provides vital support for races. The car has been provided every year alongside sponsorship of the team’s kit.
Simon Burrows, Burrows Mazda Sheffield General Manager, said: “We are immensely proud to sponsor Cycling Sheffield for another year. The team consistently excels at the sport and has achieved numerous top 10 results in national races. The fuel efficiency, load-carrying abilities and spacious cabin of our Mazda6 Tourer makes it the perfect support car. It provides ideal bike carrying capabilities and ample room to transport riders and kit as the team conducts this season’s preparation and racing.”
The team is made up of seven talented aspiring riders, aged between 18 and 25, including Joe Clark, Daniel Pullen, Charlie Renshaw, Kieran Savage, Louis Szymanski, Harry Yates and new rider Tom Knight.
The team competes at a regional, national and international level and has achieved numerous victories and top 10 results, including in the British Cycling National Series. Cycling Sheffield is supported exclusively by Sheffield businesses and organisations and aims to help riders develop and further their careers as athletes by providing a professional and nurturing team environment.
Last year, Cycling Sheffield expanded its race program to include European races, enabling the riders to gain extra valuable experience. They also set up a junior team for 16 to 18-year olds, which helps young riders build their race experience and improve their form in the hope that they will move up to the senior team.
