Toyota Yaris Y20 Edition

Toyota are celebrating 20 years of their best-selling supermini by introducing a new limited edition - the Toyota Yaris Y20. The new model has been revealed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show and is limited to 1,998 models being built - paying a tribute to the first ever Yaris launched back at the same motor show back in 1998.

The launch edition Y20 model will feature gold paintwork similar to that used on the first Yaris but will inherit the bi-tone features from the current line-up. The exterior styling features include: 16-inch grey and machined-face 10-spoke alloy wheels, a dark grey roof, grey side mouldings, a grey front grille, grey door mirror caps, grey fog light surrounds, dark tinted rear privacy glass and a special Y20 badge at the rear. The interior also carries the dark grey theme with a new chequer-pattern fabric upholstery, satin chrome inserts, black carpet mats with silver edging and Y20 badging.

Following the Y20 special edition model, Toyota will continue the Y20 theme with a full-production car. This too will have a bi-tone finish with a silver, white or black exterior bodywork colour with a dark grey roof.

New multimedia system

The 2019 Toyota Yaris's new multimedia system is in tune with people's desire to keep connected at all times. Connectivity has become an increasingly important purchase consideration for customers and the new package will enable easy smartphone integration and access to useful and popular apps.

Operation is via a simple central touchsceen; once connected, selected smartphone contents can be viewed and accessed using the screen. Functionality will be extended over time to enable access to other third party apps.

There system has a clear and simple hardware and HMI design. It can be used to provide smartphone-enabled route navigation and is able to respond to voice commands, via a new microphone and a dedicated button on the head unit, with least driver distraction. The touchscreen will also respond to familiar multi-touch gestures, such as screen flicking and pinching in and out.
