The Autocar Great British Women in the Car Industry awards celebrates and recognises the British women who are rising stars to the automotive industry. In total, there are nine different award categories of the car industry: sales, marketing, PR & communications, purchasing, operations, people development, vehicle development, manufacturing and aftersales & workshop. Plus two additional categories: new mobility & digital solutions and apprentices.
The top 100 rising stars were announced on 19th June at event in London and we are delighted to announce that our Toyota Rotherham Aftersales Manager, Danielle Chappell, finished in the top 10 for the Aftersales and Workshop category.
Danielle's career within the motor industry begun as a showroom host but she quickly learnt the ropes and it led to the job offer as a service advisor. Eight years later she joined the Burrows team, rising through the ranks to her current position. During an interview, Danielle said: "I applied for the role at the minute, thinking I wouldn't have a chance against the nine males who were being interviewed." Against her expectations she got the job. Since her promotion, her proudest achievement has been gaining a 100% score in a recent Toyota Service Management audit.
Here at Burrows Motor Company, we are members of the UK Automotive 30% Club that was founded back in 2016 by Julia Muir, Gaia Innovation CEO. The 30% Club consists of members from automotive manufacturers, retailers and suppliers who wish to create a better gender balance within their companies. The goal of the UK Automotive 30% Club is to achieve 30% of key leadership positions to be filled by women by 2030.
Back in 2017, the Burrows Search for a Star apprenticeship scheme was launched with the help of Gaia Innovation and in total, 62% of apprenticeships were offered to females.
