Motability Scheme

What is it?

The Motability Scheme is the leading scheme for disabled people, and we’re proud to offer a selection of cars at a preferential price to those receiving the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement.

In order to be eligible to join the Motability Scheme you need to be in receipt of one of the following Motability Allowances:

  • Higher Rate Motability Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
  • Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

So, what is included with the Motability Scheme? You can simply exchange all, or part of your mobility allowance, to lease a brand new Toyota, Mazda or Kia from Burrows. Here are some of the key benefits from the Motability Scheme:

The Motability Scheme offers hundreds of adaptations ranging from simple driving controls to person hoists to lift a wheelchair user into a standard car. All our adaptations are designed to help make your driving, or travelling, experience as comfortable as possible and depending on which adaptations you choose they can help you drive, stow your wheelchair or scooter, or get in and out of the car. Insurance cover

You are protected with RSA Motability (RSAM) if you have leased through the Motability Scheme. Don't worry if you can't drive, as you can nominate two named drivers who can drive on your behalf. Take a look at some of the key points of what is covered by the policy:

  • Loss of, or damage to your car
  • Adaptations and modifications which are needed and which have been agreed to and RSAM have been informed of
  • Travel to and from your normal workplace

Servicing and maintenance

For all of your regular services and any maintenance that needs doing to your car will be taken care of at your dealer. All vehicle services usually include the following checks:

  • Engine oil
  • Windscreen washer fluid
  • Engine cooling system
  • Lights
  • Tyre tread
  • Tyre pressure - including the spare tyre

As for any repairs/ maintenance work you will only need to pay these if they are not covered as part of general wear and tear.
