Here at Burrows Mazda Sheffield we provide all our customers with a courtesy car whilst their car is with us for a service and / or MOT. However, some of our customers prefer to stay in our showroom and make use of our free Wi-Fi whilst they wait for their car to be serviced. But did you know there are many fantastic activities to do in and around Sheffield. We’ve compiled a comprehensive list of all the things to do in Sheffield. We thought it’d be nice to let our customers know what they could do in the city whilst their Mazda is with us for a service. We’ve come up with lots of suggestions so have a read and see what you could get up to whilst you wait for your Mazda to be serviced.

Meadowhall Shopping Centre

​Built back in 1991, Meadowhall is one of the most popular shopping centres in the whole country and it’s right on our doorstep. From our Mazda site on Penistone Road, it’s only a short trip across town to Meadowhall. It offers shoppers a staggering 230 quality high street and designer fashion shops so it’s quite easy to spend a whole day in Meadowhall whilst your Mazda is in for a service or MOT with us.

Should you feel peckish whilst indulging in a bit of retail therapy, Meadowhall has over 50 food establishments to choose from. Most of these can be found in and around the Oasis Dining Quarter where you really are spoilt for choice with restaurants serving all types of food including Thai, American, Japanese, Mexican, Brazilian, Italian and British dishes.

Meadowhall also boasts an 11 screen cinema complex so you could while away a few hours watching a film in one of the luxury cinema rooms. There really is something for everyone In Meadowhall so we think it’s a great location to visit whilst your Mazda is with us for a Service or MOT.

Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre


Another great place to get your fill of retail therapy in Sheffield is the Crystal Peaks shopping centre which attracts over 11 million visitors each year. Opened back in 1988, Crystal Peaks offers shoppers a great choice of stores and food places to eat at the Food Hub.

If you’re after top quality high street stores, then you’re in for a treat at Crystal Peaks. There are some great stores in the retail park and shopping mall which include big names such as Burton, Dorothy Perkins, M&S, Next, Greenwoods menswear, New Look and Thomas Cook, so you could even book a holiday whilst your Mazda is with us for a Service or MOT. In addition to these shops, there are over 100 independent stalls which can be found in the covered marketplace.

Should you feel peckish whilst in Crystal Peaks shopping centre, there are many food venues to choose from including Costa, Dominos, Greggs, KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway and Chopstix Noodle Bar.

You may also be surprised to find a veterinary clinic, library, health club and medical centre.

Should we be lucky enough to be blessed with nice weather whilst your Mazda is in for a service or MOT with us, the Peace Gardens in Sheffield city centre is the perfect place to visit should you wish to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. It’s an award winning public site located on Pinstone Street so it’s not too far away from our Mazda site on Penistone Road.

It can get very busy in summer but it’s a great place to pass a few hours whilst you wait for your Mazda to be serviced at our Burrows Mazda Sheffield site. There are unique features located in the Peace Gardens such as the Holberry Cascades which are 8 large water features. You’ll find these located at the entrance to the main area but you can’t really miss them!

There is also the Goodwin Fountain which has 89 individual jets of water so this is great for the kids on a hot summers day. You’ll also find several memorials dotted about the site dedicated to Sheffield individuals who served in wars throughout the years including the Spanish Civil War and the Korean War.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens


​Another beautiful area to visit on a clear day are the Botanical Gardens which are located close to Sheffield city centre. The gardens were opened way back in 1836 and are now Grade II listed, thanks in part to the amazing Glass Pavilions which house exotic plants more commonly found in warmer climates of the world.

There are also many paths which take you through over 18 different garden areas so it’s easy to spend many hours here simply walking through all the gardens. It’s a great place to bring children who will particularly enjoy the Grade II listed Bear Pit. It can be found in between the Himalayan and Mediterranean gardens but keep your eyes peeled for it as it’s quite well hidden.

So if you like the outdoors and are somewhat green fingered, then the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield are definitely worth a visit whilst your Mazda is at our Mazda Sheffield site for a Service or MOT. And to top it all off entry is free so there’s really no excuse to pay it a visit.

Why not try visiting somewhere a little different whilst your Mazda is with us for a Service or MOT and visit the Tropical Butterfly House in Sheffield. Here you can see many exotic and amazing animals such as snakes, lemurs, meerkats, otters and owls.

Not only that, you’ll also be able to sit back and watch some of the spectacular shows they have on throughout the day which feature mammals, parrots and low-flying birds of prey. If you have children with you whilst your Mazda is with us for a service / MOT then the Tropical Butterfly House really is a great place to bring them for a few hours.

Other attractions include the indoor rainforest which is home to birds, bats, butterflies, crocodiles and all sorts of insects. There’s also an adventure playground, outdoor wet area and an indoor craft centre. Facilities include a gift shop, picnic room and a modern café which serves hot and cold food.

So if your Mazda is with us for a service or MOT on Penistone Road, why not give the Tropical Butterfly House in Sheffield a try. It’s open everyday and is located only 5 minutes off junction 31 off the M1 motorway.

Graves Park


Whilst our manufacturer trained technicians carry out a service or MOT on your Mazda, why not hop on a bus or use our free courtesy car service to visit Graves Park. It’s located in Norton which can be found in South Sheffield and is the largest park in Sheffield.

Time can be spent walking through the open fields and beautiful woodland areas where you’ll find several streams flowing through them. There are even tennis courts available should you fancy a quick game.

One of the main attractions of Graves Park is the animal farm which is free to enter. It’s home to some of the rarest farm animal breeds in the country. There are cattle, pigs, donkeys, chickens and lots more.

Should you have children with you whilst your Mazda is with Burrows Mazda for a service or MOT then you may want to take the kids to the fantastic playgrounds. The main playground which can be found next to the café has a rope park, sand pit, toddler equipment, zip wire, swings and climbing frames. It really is one of the best outdoor play areas in Sheffield.

Another fantastic park you could visit whilst your Mazda is with us for a service or MOT is Endcliffe Park in Sheffield. It’s located just over 3 miles from our Mazda centre on Penistone Road so it’s only a 10 minute car journey away.

The park was opened back in 1887 to commemorate the Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It forms part of the Porter Valley Parks sequence and offers visitors 15 hectares of beautiful scenic pathways, ponds, floral features, statues and sculptures which lead past streams and through woodlands.

There is also plenty keep the kids entertained, in particular the large children’s play area which boasts some great activities for kids of all ages. There is also a café so parents are able to purchase refreshments whilst the kids are being entertained in the playground. Pullins Amusements are also based in Endcliffe Park at weekends and during school holidays so should you have children with you whilst your Mazda is with Burrows Mazda for a Service or MOT, Endlcliffe Park should definitely be considered visiting.

Open daily from dawn until dusk, Endcliffe Park in Sheffield is a great place to visit whilst your Mazda is with us for a Service or MOT.

Kelham Island Museum


This extremely interesting museum is located just over one mile away from our Sheffield Mazda centre, making it a very accessible attraction to visit when your Mazda is with us for a Service or MOT.

Located just off the A61, Kelham Island Tavern sits on a 900 year old man-made island and was opened back in 1982. The museum is home to various exhibitions on science and Sheffield industry. It also houses a 12,000 horsepower steam engine which originally powered a local armour plate rolling mill.

Should your Mazda be with us for Service or MOT in December, then Kelham Island is a must-go destination as it hosts a very popular Victorian Christmas market. It’s usually held in the first weekend of December and has many stalls for all your Christmas needs. The Christmas market also has performers as well as Father Christmas himself!

As Kelham Island Museum is only a mile away from our Mazda centre on Penistone Road, it is easily walkable which makes it a great location to spend a couple hours whilst your Mazda is with us for a Service or MOT. However, should you wish to drive there that’s also not a problem as we can provide you with a Mazda courtesy car.
