The Kia Sorento is a vehicle which makes a real statement. It offers excellent levels of superior comfort and now for the first time ever has the option of a hybrid engine. Hybrid power is produced by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor which is powered by a 1.49 kWh (64 kW discharge / 49 kW charge) lithium-polymer battery pack. These work in tandem to produce not only excellent performance but outstanding fuel economy and efficiency, especially for a vehicle this size. The highly intelligent hybrid engine also has a Regenerative Braking System which converts kinetic energy to recharge the battery which in turn reduces emitted emissions. For those who prefer diesel power there is the now improved 2.2-litre diesel engine which offers great levels of low-down torque and brilliant performance.
