What is a battery electric car?

A battery electric vehicle is better for the environment than a petrol or diesel car, they produce zero emissions, you can charge the vehicle at home and they are incredibly quiet for a relaxing drive.

What is a hybrid or self-charging hybrid car?

A hybrid car does not require the need to plug it in - you simply fill it up with petrol and off you go! Hybrid cars also have an electric motor which assists the engine and occasionally drive very short distances on battery power.

What is a Plug-In Hybrid car?

A Plug-In Hybrid car works in a similar way to a self-charging hybrid although the battery is larger - there is a petrol engine combined with an electric motor and battery. The Plug-In Hybrid can travel around 30 miles on battery power alone.

What is Mild Hybrid?

A Mild Hybrid has a smaller battery than a self-charging hybrid. The engine does most of the work and the electric motor is there to provide assistance - which means lower emissions and increased fuel economy.

How does charging work?

Plug-In Hybrid and Electric cars are most commonly charged at home, but can be charged at work or at thousands of public chargers.

How much does an electric car cost?

This depends on which model you buy, but whichever you choose, there are some government incentives that make it cheaper to buy an EV.
