Cannon Hall Museum and Farm are located less than 7 miles away from Burrows Kia Barnsley, in Cawthorne which is a beautiful part of Barnsley. The museum is a grade II listed country house dating back to the 1700’s. It boasts some exquisite interiors and it even offers lots of activities for children so you can easily spend a couple hours here.

Cannon Hall Farm is an award winning location and is one of the largest farm attractions in the UK. It boasts a farm, gift shop, farm shop, two restaurants, adventure playgrounds and an indoor playground. It really is a great place to while away a few hours whilst your car is in for service or MOT with us at Burrows Kia Barnsley.

Barnsley Market


Barnsley market has recently received a major upgrade to all its stalls and they look fantastic. The market offers a great choice of places to shop and eat with over 300 stalls located both indoor and outdoor.

There is some excellent quality local produce on offer from butchers, grocers, bakers and fishmongers. There are also many stalls selling fabrics, cosmetics, hobby-crafts and much more so there is something for everyone.

The market is open every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8:30am to 4:30pm so why not pop by so see what they have on offer. The market can be found in the town centre so is less than 2 miles away from our Kia Centre on Pontefract Road.

Old Moor RSPB

Old Moor RSPB


Situated just off the Manvers Way, Old Moor RSPB lies in the heart of the Dearne Valley. It’s a family-friendly nature reserve and is teeming with wildlife in it’s wide range of habitats such as lakes, reedbeds, ponds, wet grassland, meadows, wader scrapes and hedgerows. In the summer, the meadows blossom with orchids and butterflies. In winter the lakes and ponds are home to thousands of swans, ducks and geese as well as some extremely are birds such as kingfishers, bitterns and avocets.

Old Moor is not the only nature reserve in the Dearne Valley - there are other sites to enjoy such as Wombwell Ings, Adwick Washland, Gypsey Marsh and Bolton Ings. So if you’re a fan of nature of would like to keep the kids active whilst your car is in for service with us at Burrows Kia Barnsley then why not give Old Moor RSPB a try.

If you’d prefer to go for some retail therapy whilst your Kia is in for service with us then look no further than the Alhambra Shopping Centre in Barnsley town centre.

It’s located less than 1 mile from our dealership so it’s easily walkable. Spread over 2 levels the centre comprises over 40 stores including top brands such as Next, Game, Iceland, TK Maxx, Primark, Thomas Cook and Wilko.

Not only does the Alhambra Centre offer a wide range of shops under one roof, it also offers some fantastic independent food and snack shops so there’s plenty of choice if you work up an appetite whilst shopping.

There are also come fantastic little independent shops located in close proximity to the Alhambra Centre which are definitely worth a look.

This is a fantastic museum located in Barnsley Town Hall, in the middle of the town centre. It is solely dedicated to the history and wonderful people of Barnsley. The story of Barnsley is told through films, documents, recordings and artefacts which are hundreds of years old. The museum offers a great fun day out for all ages so it’s perfect for families.

There is also an archive and Discovery Centre which houses books, photographs, documents, films and maps so it’s great for those who are researching their family tree. Why not try and trace your family tree for a few hours whilst your Kia is on for a service or MOT with us.

For those who would like to visit the Experience Barnsley Museum & Discovery Centre, you’ll be pleased to know entry is free so there’s no excuse to pay it a visit and learn all about the rich and varied past of Barnsley and its people.

Elsecar Heritage Centre


A great place to visit whilst your Kia is in for service and / or MOT with us is Elsecar Heritage Centre. Located in the lovely conservation village of Elsecar, the Heritage Centre offers its visitors a unique mix of activities for both adults and children. There are various craft workshops, antique centres, artist studios, children’s indoor playcentre, the Maison du Biere beer shop & micropub, the superb historical railway and the Newcomen Beam Engine. Originally built back in 1795, the Beam Engine is a great example of a surviving legacy of the industrial revolution and it’s just on our doorstep in Barnsley. Admission to Elsecar Heritage Centre is free.

Whilst in Elsecar, you could also visit the many shops dotted around the village. There is also an attractive park which is glorious on a fine spring or summers day and next to the park is a 9 hole pitch and put.

Pirates Cove

Pirates Cove


Located just off Mitchell Road in Wombwell, Pirates Cove was established way back in 1995 and has proved to be a very popular attraction for children in the Barnsley area ever since. if you have littles ones, Pirates Cove is the perfect location to go whilst your Kia is with us for service / MOT.

Parents can sit back and relax, knowing their children are in a safe, enjoyable environment. You’ll be able to enjoy the leather seats and have a coffee , whilst enjoying free Wi-Fi and magazines. There’s over 2,300 square feet of play area for children so there’s lots to keep them entertained, including 9 slides, 3 ball pools and a bouncing castle. There is even an area just for toddlers (under 4) which boasts a rocker, ball pool, exploding juggler and Tyke houses.
